To The Editorial Board,
As a political junkie the news is on in my house nearly 24 hours a day. Much to my surprise I have heard very little about the presidential campaign of Governor Gary Johnson. ... I am a patient working for medicinal use of cannabis to become legal in my state and nationwide. For patients like myself, and the majority of the country that would like to see the war on cannabis end it must be stated that you and the rest of the media have done this nation a huge dis-service by not covering the campaign of Gary Johnson.
Governor Johnson chose Judge Jim Gray for his running mate, yet I have not heard that on the news. For the millions who want change in the nation's drug policy we have to ask why is the media refusing to cover any part of the Johnson campaign? Have the drug companies threatened to withhold advertising if you do? Why have you chosen to sweep the Johnson campaign under the rug? Are you, as a business, happy with the drug policy and what it does to lives across the nation? Do you want patients to continue suffering without the use of medicinal cannabis? So much news comes out about cannabis studies, which the news rarely covers. Why is that? Again do the drug and alcohol companies advertising dollars have something to do with that? One third of this nation has access to medicinal cannabis; meaning it is safe for patients in those states to obtain and use what works for them. For the rest of us - we are working to make it a reality in our states - at the same time feeling like this is suppose to be one nation. While understand state laws and rights, medicine should be available nationwide, not just to selected states forcing patients to leave friends and family and move to an other state.
This is a national crisis for many of us.
Please do your job and inform the nation about the Johnson/Gray campaign. You may find your viewer counts rising if you do. Personally, I hold the media responsible for keeping this nation in the dark ages. You are the nation’s source for information. Please inform them. I am not asking for this election to be about the drug policy but informing the nation there is an option is your responsibility.
Sincerely,
Kathy Day
